The Hemis commissioning service

The art of
being understood.

A personal garment begins long before a measurement. It begins with where you go, how you move, what you already love wearing and what has never quite worked.

Bespoke

The Hemis approach

A relationship, not a size chart.

We consider the entire garment: how its shoulders settle, how it moves through the waist, where its hem falls, and how it complements the rest of your wardrobe. We also consider the conditions in which you will actually wear it.

Sometimes the answer is a softer jacket. Sometimes it is a more precise trouser rise, lighter cloth, or simply fewer and better-coordinated pieces. There is no one Hemis silhouette imposed on every man.

01 / Three distinct services

How personal would you like to go?

Each route has a different relationship to fit, pattern, choice and fittings. We will recommend the appropriate level for the garment and brief, rather than calling every custom order “bespoke”.

01 / MTO

Made to order

Choose an established Hemis silhouette and size, then select from the available cloth or design options. The garment is made after the order.

02 / MTM

Made to measure

An existing pattern is adjusted to your measurements and agreed fit preferences. Fabric and design details are selected as part of the consultation.

03 / BESPOKE

Bespoke

A garment is individually developed around your measurements, posture, movement and brief. Pattern development and appropriate fittings form part of the commission.

Silhouette, cloth, construction and details in consultation
Best suited to
An exacting fit, special piece or particular proportion

The construction method, precise number of fittings and lead time are confirmed for your garment before an order is accepted.

02 / The commission

From first conversation
to a finished garment.

A clear, collaborative process that respects your time and allows the important decisions to be made with care.

01

Discover

We map the occasion, lifestyle, existing wardrobe, preferred fit, references, timeline and intended level of formality. A comprehensive wardrobe begins with an inventory of what already works.

02

Define

We agree on garment types and priorities. The silhouette, cloth weight, hand, colour, details, making route and estimated investment are discussed before you commit.

03

Measure & develop

Measurements are interpreted alongside posture, balance and movement. Depending on your service, we refine an established pattern or develop an individual one.

04

Fit & refine

We assess the garment in movement, not simply while standing still. Alterations and further fittings depend on the piece and the choices made in the commission.

05

Wear & revisit

Your experience wearing the garment informs future commissions. A personal wardrobe is improved through wear, feedback and continuity.
