Hand & drape
How cloth feels and falls can determine whether a silhouette is graceful or stiff.
Hemis / Cloth & construction
Every fabric has its own hand, drape, weight and behaviour. The right choice starts with the garment and the life it will lead.

Understanding cloth
Two wool fabrics may look similar on a swatch and behave quite differently once made into jackets. The weave, weight, finish and structure of a cloth determine how it falls, breathes, recovers and ages.
We look at your climate, the intended silhouette, frequency of wear, layering needs and care habits. We then help you handle and compare suitable cloth options, subject to current sourcing.
Fibre & form
Wool can offer resilience, drape and tailored structure across different weights and weaves. A fine worsted has a different character from a textured, loosely woven cloth.
Explore for: suiting, formal trousers, tailored jackets and selected occasion garments.
Linen brings an airy hand and visible natural texture. Its tendency to crease is part of its expression and should be understood before commissioning a very formal garment.
Explore for: warm-weather shirting, relaxed jackets and trousers.
Poplin, oxford, twill and other cotton weaves have very different levels of body and surface. We consider whether the shirt must be crisp, soft, cool or more substantial.
Explore for: dress shirts, everyday shirting, chinos and suitable casual layers.
Silk can offer lustre, texture and movement for formal and ceremonial garments. It is selected according to the use of the piece and the balance between cloth and decoration.
Explore for: selected evening and Indian occasionwear applications.
Depending on availability and the garment, we may consider cashmere or particular natural-fibre blends. Suitability is judged on durability, care, tactile quality and the intended construction.

Climate, air-conditioning and time spent travelling influence the cloth we discuss.
Canvas, seams, linings and hand finishing are selected according to the commission.
Maintenance, storage and the realities of repeated use should be understood at the outset.
Cloth availability, composition and construction are confirmed individually. Ready-to-wear compositions are shown on the respective product pages; not every existing item is exclusively natural fibre.
